Pictured: the Northern Pole Star rests in the center and the seven stars of the dipper travels around it throughout the year. The Northern Pole Star can be thought of as the True Mind, which is what happens when the Intention rests in the Lower Dantian and does not move, allowing for it to dissipate and leave only consciousness. It can also refer to the Lower Dantian in general. This is why in Neidan practice stillness is more important than movement. The movement of energy comes from being still and stable and realizing the principle of the Northern Pole Star in the Spirit, Mind and Body.
